Since joining in 2008, Joel has managed the firm’s legal and financial due diligence efforts in the acquisition of dozens of life contingent asset portfolios. Joel is also responsible for integrating legal and compliance risk mitigation with the firm’s business operations. In addition to negotiating the firm’s asset management and servicing agreements with our partners, Joel manages the company’s life settlement provider and interfaces with state regulators around the country.
Prior to Institutional Life, Joel was a Senior Attorney with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. Joel was also Of Counsel in the nationally recognized Insurance Capital Markets Group of Locke Lord and before that served as General Counsel of Maple Life Financial, a leading life settlement firm. Joel holds B.S. degrees from Florida State University and a JD from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
